How many of you out there still receive Silent / unwanted phone calls? have you looked into ways of stopping them? In what way? I had a lot of these calls up to me buying our new BT Phone, up to now, none received, so the phone is doing it's job.

Not had many since registering with the TPS though.

Regularly get nuisance calls. A couple a day average ? And yes I am registered with the preferential telephone service. I'd ignore unknown and withheld callers normally, but it's difficult if you are expecting calls from folk you won't know.
I was planning to get a CPR call blocker to go with my existing phones (because obviously I don't want to replace them). But I read somewhere that they don't work with multiple extensions and folk need to replace with a wireless system ! I felt that this couldn't possibly be so, it being such an obviously deficiency, so I asked the question on their website asking if their product had this issue. I'm still awaiting a reply weeks later.
I guess CPR's answer must be, "Yes, our product isn't well designed and is of limited use, but we don't like to admit it; and we don't care about developing a reputation for ignoring customers."

Do you kow i maybe get 1 nuisance call a year if that. I'm not registered with TPS and have a normal handset with no caller ID. I can only put this down to the fact that for at least 20 years I've not only been ex-directory but my number is automatically witheld when I dial out (pre-arranged with BT). I can think of no other reason why I don't suffer these nuisances that most people seem to.
We are ex-directory and reg TPS but we still receive the occasional unwanted call. Recently it became persistant and silent calls from a particular number so I reported it to tps and it has stopped.
If you are reg tps its important to report callers who abuse the system. The more reports the stronger the case for prosceution.

I bought the BT phone that blocks the calls. I maybe get one a week and I block it for future calls - after checking that it isn't a legit call.
I can only block 12 numbers at a time and I am sure that they change their phone numbers weekly just to confuse me.
My doctors seem to have un-withheld their numbers as it shows up that the call is from 'doctor'.
I am quite satisfied with the phone

I used to get lot that said 'International' on the screen but they have ceased since I spoke to the man who said he was from Microsoft and strung him along for a while. He must have been very excited when he thought he had a catch but then I told him that I couldn`t remember the password for my computer. Eventually I told him my password was "stupid effing scammers" and I haven`t heard from them since.
