Used to be able to, can't without prior appointment now. You can make an appointmeent for tomorrow though. Does cost around �80 for same-day processing

An appointment is essential. The Passport Agency state that you should allow at least 2 weeks to get an appointment but you could try phoning (0870 521 0410) to see if there's a spare appointment time available at short notice:

It's not clear, from your post, what you mean by a 'new' passport. If you're seeking a renewal then, once you've got an appointment, you can get your passport on the same day. Remember though, that you'll pay substantially more (�96.50) for this service:

Thank you for your help...my parents were suposed to be flying out this morning and didnt notice the passport was out of date....hopefully they will be able to get an appointment.

Luck really must be on there side as they have managed to get the passport renewed today!

There wasnt any appointments available until tuesday when they rang.But got it sorted there and then..Thank you again for your advice though (",)

Although they say you need an appointment, in reality if you are there when the office opens (8am) you stand a good chance of getting served if you have a convincing enough emergency.
