But certainly, in the event on a Brexit, it doesn't sound plausible that someone could possibly be so foolish as to note a main reason folk chose to leave and then deliberately reinstate that same aggravation again when outside the EU.
A slow withdrawal will minimise turmoil JD. A transition period is going to be a turbulent period as it is but taking it easy allows the loose ends to be sorted, reduces surprises and limits investor panicking. It also helps retain good relationships. No one would want to drag it out more than it need be, and for sure one could simply refuse to play ball and cast ourselves adrift, but that doesn't help anyone in the long run.

Dosset - this just won't happen. We are far, far stronger than Norway etc.. Only this evening Germany has conceded that they would have to strike a deal with us. I confidently expect a tariff-free deal will emerge - Europe would be suicidal not to conclude such a deal. No-way are French wine-growers going to make their wine less attractive, price-wise (I lived in France until last year and they are more than very worried about their wine sales) and can you imagine what the CEO of Mercedes would say!!!
