Be wary though since if you opt to join one of the existing major parties instead, because your persuasive powers are not up to convincing the majority to vote for an independent, you will need to balance your desire to do right by your constituents with the influence that party has on your activities. There will be unfortunate but pragmatic compromises if you wish to get into a position where you have any influence. But after that you may be able to do some good and change the system for the better.
