Strange how a couple of days ago some were saying there is more to the EU vote than just immigration, but now having lost the vote out comes their immigration race card.

At no time did I hear anyone suggest a leave result would allow us to remove immigrants (although the time is limited for those unemployed and living off our tax payments). The immigration benefit from leaving was about preventing being swamped by more due to their gaining an EU passport and walking in. It was about being able to ensure those arriving have something to offer that we need. There never was a suggestion that those employed here or studying would be forced out. It's ludicrous to suggest any sane person thought otherwise.

What a ridiculous article, even by the standards of the so-called “independent”.

It is interesting to note that Diego, the Spanish cleaner, has suddenly observed that “London is for rich people”. That’s certainly half true. What he also forgot to mention is that it is also a place for poor people (many of them immigrants) who live in heavily subsidised “affordable” housing in the inner boroughs of one of the most expensive cities in the world. I could certainly not afford to live in Lambeth, Wandsworth or Westminster where many such properties exist.

I also don’t know why we were only told of Diego’s observations on Friday morning.
