Government petitions cannot be signed outside the UK, a UK based IP address is needed. That does not stop someone in the UK who is not a resident from voting, but I doubt that that would be a significant number.
The 2 million signees are UK resident remainers or bregretters.
Psybbo, I think the DUP felt the union would be stronger if the influence of the EU wasnt undermining the bonds we have with the mainland. And the imagined threat posed by foreign influence, Dublin or Rome, or Brussels, usually keeps the voters in line.
The fact that a majority of us wanted to remain is a hopeful sign. We're not as easily taken in as we once were.
