X1290 Lexmark Printer driver
I have bought a new X1290 Lexmark Printer, the driver that comes with it makes my PC crash and freeze. I got in touch with Lexmark who blamed my PC (of course). I formatted my HD and installed XP home then tried the driver again and the same thing happened. My PC specs can easily handle the printer, so does anyone have any ideas how to get the printer to work or where to get a different driver. Grateful for any help or ideas.

Recheck the devices listed and again uninstall the printer if it is shown.
If all is well shutdown your pc and reboot with the printer connected and powered on.
XP should prompt that is has found new hardware and ask whether you want to install drivers automatically or browse for them yourself.
Select automatically, with any luck XP will already have a generic driver that will work for your printer and install it for you automatically.
If it returns error saying it cannot find any then I`m afraid you are going to have to either google the problem for possible fixes or find a earlier driver that will work.
I hope this is of some help to you. :>

The easiest way is to use a third party tool to download and install the driver. OSToto Driver Talent is a good choice and you could have a try.
