first of all you need to go into device manager and uninstall the printer if it is bieng shown. If it isn`t ieng shown click on the view drop down menu and select show hiden devices.
Recheck the devices listed and again uninstall the printer if it is shown.
If all is well shutdown your pc and reboot with the printer connected and powered on.
XP should prompt that is has found new hardware and ask whether you want to install drivers automatically or browse for them yourself.
Select automatically, with any luck XP will already have a generic driver that will work for your printer and install it for you automatically.
If it returns error saying it cannot find any then I`m afraid you are going to have to either google the problem for possible fixes or find a earlier driver that will work.
