Don't you only lose one candidate at a time ? Not that I'm familiar with the Tory leadership elections.
Even if some think a 'remainer' leading when the Brexit negotiations were on, is a good thing, most Gove vote would transfer to Boris and most Boris vote to Gove.
No turning back could mean, "Yes we are going, but we will comply with all your terrible demands, that we exited to get away from, in order to be part of the single market". I don't see there being the same enthusiasm to stand firm by a 'remainer' as there would be for an 'leaver', who hopefully wouldn't see the situation as a 'single market at any cost' one. A 'remainer' is more of a risk for it all going pear shaped.
"The Tories’ process for picking a leader is twofold: Conservative MPs narrow the field to two choices, before a postal ballot of the wider membership of the party is conducted."
So no split is going to effect the final vote that much. The question is how relatively popular Johnson, Gove, May, et al. are with the party members.
I personally think it should be left to MPs. Putting it to the wider party smacks of Labour, and look what happened there. If Boris is in the last two I think party members will favour him.
If I knew for certain Theresa May would carry out what she said this morning and she wasn't just pretending to be almost nice and sincere I would actually vote for her.
I'm not p issed and haven't had too much sun but I will obviously need to make an appointment at the doctors.
