Caroline Ahearne

Without wanting to sound flippant, but Caroline Ahearne's death is the first celebrity passing that hasn't surprised me this year. She used to provide the 'voice over' commentary on CH4's Gogglebox and the last time I heard her (she was replaced by Criag Cash in the last series), she sounded extremely frail.

Like Victoria Wood, a very sad loss.

Will always remember her for three Mrs Merton questions:

Asking Chris Eubank what it's like to get 'battered around the ring'.

Asking Debbie McGee what it was that first attracted her to the millionaire Paul Daniels.

Wrinkling her nose, and asking Joanna Lumley (out of the blue), "Oh Joanna...have you just trumped?"

Respect.

Total shock SP ! I think that the "Royle Family" was one of the best comedy shows since Fawlty Towers.

Not a bolt from the blue as some recent reported deaths this was the last of a few run ins with cancer she had had - bladder, retina and lung previously.

Still a bright and witty lady.
