I got so peed off with the line breaking on my last strimmer I did a full Pete Townshend on it - very, very satisfying :)

Think I'll give that a miss thanks.
If your line continually breaks drill the holes slightly and use a larger gauge.
Cutting with just the tip of the line instead of shoving it in with a vengeance also helps.

I have a strimmer that uses small plastic blades and they still break.

I have got the GTec strimmer that uses plastic blades. They are designed to wear and break in use but are very cheap and easy to replace. Before I got it I got so fed up with the reel type getting buried turns on the reel and jamming. never had a good one and spent some money on them over the years.

It does occur to me that if the tie doesn't break then strain might transfer to the hole in that centre part, breaking it instead. Probably want a metal version of the centre bit.
