I would appreciate clues - NOT answers to the following questions. I appreciate that the setters do not want us to ask for answers, and hope you may be able to guide me to the correct answers.

59 - Different ending for Troy Tempest's rescuer

also 67 which is in a language I can't recognise. Help appreciated.

Answers are mostly cryptic with all answers relating to gems (including organic materials used as gems), items of jewellery or famous jewels.

Are you going with JJ for the Troy Tempest question. If so I would look again. His rescuer was a man and you need to add 3 letters to his surname.

mally - I googled the name with 'ite' on the end and it came up trumps! I've also solved 67 - I copied and pasted the question from the quiz sheet I had fortunately saved in my documents.
So, still not quite there, but nearly done. You are a kind lot, you know!!!

I got the island one, thank you, but still not sure about the bucket one. I can't make it fit the clue, although there is a gem which might be the answer - name of a flower?

Yes - the main character's name is indeed a flower that is also a gem (a type of zircon, but it begins and ends in the same letter!)
