How Often Should You Offer A Builder A Cup Of Tea?

I'm wondering about this. I would offer the builder working on my house a cup of tea every time I made one for myself, if I drank tea at home, but I don't drink tea at home.
What's the required rate of tea per builder, wanting to keep him happy but not "spoiling him" as my OH says?

I would make one on arrival. Offer at lunch time and tell him he's welcome to help himself...
I'd either invite the guy to make his own whenever he felt like it or work roughly to the 'office-worker's schedule'. i.e. a cuppa on arrival, a mid-morning tea-break, a lunch-time cuppa and a mid-afternoon tea break.
And a packet of biscuits!!
I show workmen where the stuff is and tell them to help themselves if they are working in house. If they are working outside, i put a spare kettle and makings in the garage and tell them to brew when they want to. In this weather I would add bottled cold water too.
one for "elevenses" and one half way thru the afternoon say around 3pm ? if he brings a packed lunch and eats on your premises or outside in his van/lorry then ask would he like a cup to go with his lunch, he may well have brought a flask for lunch time. If he disappears for lunch then you don't have to bother.

Thanks everyone.
I once had a decorator in the house who got a bit huffy if he didn't have tea regularly given to him even though he brought his own flask. I've had builders heavily hint that they want cups of tea.
The current one loves his tea, but I guess every few hours is ok, based on what you've all said.
I do as some others do , offer the first one then say 'Help yourself when needed'.
When we had our windows replaced earlier this year, the weather was terrible and the 'lads' really appreciated hourly mugs of strong, sweet, milky tea. They never stopped working to drink it and they did a great job, so the milk/sugar bill was well worth it. :)

Thanks jackdaw, that was really good.

I put a big smiley face to jackdaw and "thanks, everyone" but it didn't come up.
Well for me, Clover...depends on how good he looks in shorts......☺
......or out of them?
The problem with offering your builders unlimited tea, is that it all has to come out in the end.

Depending on age and sex,and I am presuming your builder is an chap, be prepared to make you toilet facilities available with as much frequency as you offer the tea !
