I am not that savvy with IT but I always use wireless mouse as, simply, one less wire to join the tangled spaghetti behind the tower. One less wire to knock my glass of ale over when using my Asus Transformer in the pub. I hate clutter and those are my pros. The cons are they use batteries and are not powered via the computer and spares are advised if out and about.
Incidentally I can't work with touch screen or integral mouse so use a separate wi fi mouse even on my Transformer.
Very simple non techie pro and con but I warned you I am not savvy with IT but have, at least, used both types of mouse. :-)

Were you feeding your mouse correctly. Have you established the reason for it's demise. Could it be natural old age or neglect and abuse?

Old age got to it, I think. A slippy patch on its mat, doddery on its feet, an accident waiting to happen.

Natural causes then and typical of a mouse. I would bury it and go to Argos( Where I got my latest wi-fi ) and bury the old one.

My computer, screen, 3 speakers, and an ash tray are all somehow squeezed into a small coffee table. The keyboard, wired, sits on my lap as I'm using it, and the mouse mat was balanced on the arm of the sofa.
Obviously not as well balanced as I'd thought.

I haven't used a wired mouse for years. It depends on how crowded your desktop is....a wireless one will probably be more convenient, and they are cheap enough these days.

I prefer a decent thumb operated trackball, myself. Wireless, of course.

I went with Retro's suggestion. For the price of a thumb operated trackball I'd be looking a rat rather than a mouse.
