A question was asked and answers were given, a few of which encouraged further debate or at least a return-opinion. No answers were forthcoming from the original questioner except one general response that suggested (IMO) surprise and faux innocence and just a hint of "I've bitten off more than I can chew". It is his choice as to whether he deems my last comment to be a "gratuitous insult", not yours - if you choose to categorise it that way, that is your observation.
