Advertising.
Advertising revenue, JJ.
Like most websites, it relies on advertising revenues.

As one of the original (and best of course!) public forum websites on the net, the AB is a market leader in this form of site.

Without the adverts AnswerBank would not exist, JJ.
Before we go further please be assured my answer was meant to be humorous - however hc is correct.

I too find them very difficult with my visual issues so I do understand.
Question Author
ok - will take adblock off
You can disable adblock for this site only.
And the ads know where you live...It's spooky. Right now I have an ad for tickets to a Toronto Blue Jame baseball game; an ad for a $99.99 bundle deal from Roger's Communications; and one from a Mercedes-Benz dealer in my town.
That should be Toronto Blue Jays.
Ad bots, they look at your cokies and advertise anything that may appeal, it's that targettingthat can make a website a lot of money, random stuff has less potential of someone clicking the ad so less benefitial.
