Circle Line From Paddington

I was up in Town this week and found I couldn't go straight through to Kings Cross from Paddington, on the Circle Line, without changing at Edgware Road. I used to be able to.

Does anyone know why ?

I don't know the underground very well, but I was in London recently and found some journeys were awkward owing to building or repairing somewhere around Paddington. Sorry I can't be more help, I expect someone who knows will be along soon.

The District and Circle Lines share the same line, so perhaps you accidentally got on a District Line train which then terminated at Edgware Road.

If I am wrong, then next time go to the platform for the Hammersmith and City Line which does go straight through.

Thanks Jo.....It wasn't really a problem, as I got off on one platform and walked over to the other side and caught another Circle Line train.

Yes thanks Hoppy....I could do that, but it seems to take you right over the other side of Paddington Station, instead of to the main concourse.

In this there is a paragraph that reads:

If you want to travel through Edgware Road i.e. from Paddington to Baker Street, you are strongly advised to take an eastbound Circle or Hammersmith & City Line train from platform 16 in the mainline station, which will go directly there. If you take an eastbound Circle Line train from platform 2, you will need to change trains at Edgware Road, in order to continue your eastbound journey.

The circle line hasn't been a circle for years now, sad to say. But you should have been able to do it on the Hammersmith and city line without changing. It's no further from the main station, though at the other end.

it's not so far from the footbridge that spans all of the platforms at the western end - just fine for anyone in the back of the train....... or are you a first class traveller?

First Class ?....my company were paying and they would book me 3rd class tickets, if they were still available !

I wanted to visit the Sainsbury's shop, before I boarded the train Mush.

By far the simplest way from Paddington to King's Cross is the 205 bus - straight along the Marylebone and Euston Rd. No walking along endless underground passages required.

at present plusbus is not available for tfl services; so london buses cannot be added to train tickets, whereas tube journeys can.

I was on my way back from Holloway Road, to Paddington, so I am not sure that taking a bus would be of any help.
