A Bit Of Confusion

Today at Dad's home I was sitting with him and his mate, Fred, enjoying the pleasant afternoon sunshine. One of the carers came out and handed Fred a letter. He opened it, glanced at it and gave it back to her. She said, I'll put that in the diary, Fred and off she went, leaving him with the envelope.

When she'd gone he said to me, ' It says stroke' on this envelope. I haven't had a stroke, have I?'

I tried to explain that it was a Stroke Association franking stamp but he was still very concerned. I had to go and fetch the carer who explained to him that it was an appointment for the optician.

Poor man. It really put the wind up him!
