Red Button +

Our BBC Red Button service has switched to Red Button plus. I don't use it, but Mr M is relies on the old service for sport results and news headlines. He can't get on with red button plus and we want our old red button back.

Checking FAQ on the bbc site, suggests using the text key on the remote for the old service, but that doesn't work for us. Any ideas?

We are on Freeview and there is no change there.

Ah, a quick Google suggests it is on smart TVs that are connected to t'internet.

I haven't had any dealings with smart TVs. Is there some simple way to disconnect the TV from the internet? Perhaps then it would act as a normal TV.

Sorry, forgot to say that I have a fairly regular TV but have it hooked to the internet. We watch and record TV through Youview and are able to watch programmes on catch up.

Maybe run the TV and remote through the setup process again.

I vaguely recall having to change some setting back to 'normal' when I bought my last TV (for now). I just browsed the menus checking things out.

Red Button Plus only launched this weekend, all ready for the Olympics I think. Doesn't look as though we can opt out!

You can if you have an aerial connected and can use Freeview instead of the Youview box.

I have had a weird Red Button service for a while on my Smart TV. I don't like it one little bit. If I want the Red Button I use the PVR tuner rather than the TV tuner.

My husband hates it too - it is a mess on the site now, with no proper index of news headlines. What are they thinking to change it in this way?
