Cat Scratching Post
Can anyone recommend a heavy based scratching post for an adult cat please? Our 1st one was great but I can't remember where I bought it from. I since bought one from Argos but the base is so lightweight that I have to hold it down whilst the cat uses it! Otherwise it slides all over the floor when she is trying to scratch. Have had a look online but hardly any of them seem to give the weight of the post - which is what I am really looking for.
Many thanks in advance for any help.

My boy cat (Frankie) likes woodwork to scratch or the odd armchair. But buying a cat scratcher for him is easy.
His sister (Merlin) is more like a cage fighter than a delicate lady cat. She launches herself at it with some force and topples the scratcher.
This is the latest scratcher to add to their collection of almost bald scratching poles http:// tinyurl .com/h9 mfcgo They have decided that it is acceptable.
Have you considered something different - not a pole but maybe something on this page http:// tinyurl .com/hx 8tzxb It depends on how much space you have and how much money..

Thank you very much everyone for your replies. Strangely enough, at the weekend, I found a picture of our original scratching post - which says it can be bought from Animal Crackers in Hampstead. I bought mine from Argos. AC don't seem to be online so I will have to ring / visit them to see if I can replace it. Many thanks once again for all your help - much appreciated.
