Jourdain thats very interesting about your heritage. A few years ago I started to do the English side of mine but could only get back to about 1720. How do you find out your early heritage? can you do a DNA test or something?
I do love Yorkshire and the folk, we do have our fair share of bad apples, but apparently we have the highest percentage of DNA being true English of all Counties. All are always welcome to enjoy Gods own County.
just2retro....'fraid there's no easy answer. Slogging through birth records gave us names and dates. We know that since 1710 there has always been a man with my father's name alive in Yorkshire. Alas, he had 2 girls!
I believe that DNA tests are getting cheaper. The other clue I have is that I have a Viking upper jaw, as did my mum and as do my sister and daughters. Don't know about the grandkids. :)
