It's OH's birthday on Wed, and I've got him a pair of garden shears. As he's currently mowing the lawns, I thought it might be the right time to give them to him. He seems a bit underwhelmed, and said he'll open the box later (still in cardboard box from Amazon) :(
While I've got your attention,....or have I? Bought some cheapo solar power garden lights, with no instructions, and i unscrewed the top, and there's an on/off switch, and when I clicked it to "on", a little blue light came on....what do I do? Leave 'em "on"? Where does the "solar" part of em come into play? :(
Just leave them on all the time - they charge up in the day and switch themselves on when it goes dark. Ours last all night in summer (we use then to mark guy-ropes when we're camping).
DT.....I'm not going to a dozen little lamps, unscrewing top and turning on every night :o
bhg,...I'm liking the idea of em switching themselves on....that's what last lot I had, about 4 years ago, but I don't think they had an on/off switch.
Danny, that's a good idea, thanks, but too late now ;)
We're the same as bhg. We have a dozen solar lights, they also have an on/off switch and the only time they'll be switched off is over winter when we remove them from their current position in the garden and put them in the shed or garage.
This new generation of solar garden lights are a world away from the ones we bought years ago which barely glimmered, these are really bright and light up the steps to our sunken garden.
Incidentally, we don't buy birthday or Christmas presents for each other, or cards. Cant see the point as we buy anything we want when we want it.
It's not a great idea, Baths.. Tie a bit of ribbon to one of the handles and attach to said ribbon a gift voucher for something he would like. Then wrap it up in birthday paper and present it on Wednesday. Wipe sweat from brow and resolve to learn from this. :o) xx
