Is it possible to have Viber/Whatsapp etc. on both iPad and an android tablet at the same time? At the moment I can only seem to choose between either/or but I'd like to have all messages come through on both devices if possible.

My pure guess is that those services need a number to send information to ? I'm fairly sure WhatsApp asked from my mobile number. So the account would be tied to one SIM and thus couldn't be linked to two.

But I stress that's simply a guess, maybe they've changed it so you can attach any number of phone numbers to an account. But I'd suspect not.
As OG surmises, your WhatsApp account is tied to your verified phone number. Therefore, if you want to use it on multiple phones, you'll need a separate WhatsApp account for each phone.
That's why I use Skype. I have Skype on my laptop, both my desktops, my Android phone, and my wife's tablet.

Thank, I've since found that you can have Viber working in sync between both device, whereas you cannot have Whatsapp on bot. And for a bonus point you can have Snapchat on both devices but you can only be logged into one device at any time.
