Struggling more than usual this week - my NE corner is something of a desertat the moment!

There are two elsewhere which I think I have got but can't see the parsing...

54a Symbolic books reflecting breadth of knowledge. I have "token", which is symbolic, and books (NT) is reflected. Which leaves "oke" or possibly "eko". Is it that "oke" is like "ok"? If so, I still don't get he "breadth of knowledge" bit.

38d Cardinal and Canon speaking. I had P?I?C?P?L so have gone for "principal", which fits a definition of "Cardinal". Where does the "Canon/Canon speaking" fit in? Is there a type of cannon called a principal?

Any help appreciated, ta.

OT and Ken?
canon is a principle I think- sounds like principal
54 TO (at the start of Token) is OT/Old Testament, reversed, and Ken is breadth of knowledge/know.
canon is a principle (speaking/sounds like principal)
canon1
ˈkanən/Submit
noun
1.
a general law, rule, principle, or criterion by which something is judged.
Principal sounds like(speaking) principle (canon)

Thanks - in both cases I had got fixated on a wrong idea - NT instead of OT and canon/cannon instead of principle/principal. DOH!
