On way back from Birmingham yesterday we'd reserved seats on the train. We get on and our two are one side of a table and there are two seats opposite. I go to get into my window seat and realise that the man opposite is not only fast asleep (and drunk as I later found out ) but he had also slithered down in his seat and his legs and feet were right under my seat. Now anybody else would have probably woken him up and asked him to sit up, but no not me. For some reason which I still can't fathom I decided to somehow climb into my seat and balance myself so that my feet were either side of his legs and utterly uncomfortable!! I must have looked a complete idiot! I did try to gently move his feet with mine but he was out cold. He did in fact wake up an hour later and offer me a can of beer lol. But how silly was I. Why couldn't I have just woken him up lol?

I think I would have gone and found the guard....risky waking up a drunk person

If the carriage wasn't full I would have moved seats.

I would have tried to move his feet but not gently, if that didn't work I would have called the guard to deal with him.

Guard? When were you last on a train?

I don't know if the person is called a "guard" but I seldom get on a train without someone inspecting my ticket. "guard", "Ticket collector" - whatever, there's usually someone ( on the trains I catch ) who could shift a dozy drunk.

I would have found the guard as well....unless you were on the Southern Railway, and then you wouldn't be able to find one !

A good reason to continue to have guards I would have thought !
