I received a lovely Lily in a pot 6 weeks ago. I placed it outside. It has flowered but is now dead. Should I keep it, trim it down or what?

Just leave it as it is. It will die back and will flower again next year. You may want to re-pot it in the spring.
Just in passing, be careful not to brush by the pollen - can ruin your clothes.
I had one recently, as a birthday present. It only stayed in the house for two days. I couldn't stand the smell.
We have a number of these in tubs that are outside all year.

When they have finished flowering, which in our case was about three weeks ago, my wife cuts them back, and they reappear the next year.
