I have received from the local Electoral Registaration Office the Household Enquiry Form requiring confirmation of all those living at my address. For those already shown as registered why am I required to say whether they are aged 76 or over? What has this to do with the right to vote?
Elsewhere on the form it states that the information given will be used only for electoral purposes.
Any ideas?

You are chosen for Jury Service from the Electoral Register.
There is an upper-age limit for this.
It's for Jury Service - once you are over 75 you can no longer do it

Privacy is taken seriously - a census taker was sent to prison for dobbing in benefit cheats that he discovered on his census rounds. ( info not used for the purpose it was gathered )

Thanks Peter. Yes I had no objections to completing the form, but could not see the significance of the age 76. I had not realised the age for jury service had been increased. I always fancied doing jury service but never got the call
