Adverts On Facebook

i am suddenly being bombarded by embedded adverts on facebook - every other post seems to be one. I tried altering my privacy settings but that doen't seem to have worked. Is anyone else finding sudden influx?

Yes, maybe the last month or so. Usually things I've looked at online. And that's despite using an adblocker.

There's a massive battle going on between Facebook and AdBlock Plus, which has resulted in Facebook embedding ads directly into their pages (rather than having them provided from a third party server, as AB does) to try to render AdBlock Plus (and other ad blockers) ineffective:

Luckily I'm a dinosaur to Google and Microsoft because I'm still on XP so they no longer update to that.
Ad removal is still working and so is Facebook

Ahhh, that explains a lot, not had an ad for years, now every other thread is one, despite ticking the box to say 'don't show me ads like this'
