Limoncello: How Long Does It Last?
12 Answers
Made some Limoncello in July and gave some to friends and family in smallish bottles.
I still have a 75cl bottle in the cupboard. How long will it keep?
(BBC recipe of water, sugar, lemon zest and vodka.)

Shove in a dark place and forget for around six months...except keep and eye on it to make sure there is enough vodka in there and its not fermenting. Strain at six ish months and taste, maybe add more sugar and/or vodka, filter and bottle then forget for another six months. It really really really improves with keeping. the fruit pulp will keep in the fridge. If there aren’t to many cranberries in it, it makes a lovely icecream topping
I would thaw it first and see how much liquid there is. If there is not enough vodka and sugar in the mix, it will ferment. I use a two litre jar and it ends up about a bottle of vodka to begin with, about a quarter volume of sugar and the the rest fruit packed down a bit....and I don’t put super expensive vodka but not the cheapo stuff either. Its not so much that you want a good taste from the vodka, as you don’t want a bad one.
