PS2 v XBOX

Where can i get an unbiased comparison in terms of games, graphics, speed etc between the PS2 and XBOX?

Here's my opinion, and I own neither. The XBox is simply more powerful and is technically superior. The PS2 (generally) has the better games, with not only a longer history behind it, but clearly a management that know a good game when they see it and have consistently put out good titles. It is not worth buying either console on the basis of a single 'killer' game, such as Halo. This said, Microsoft's abilities with the XBox may mature (remember that Sony has years on them), and as such the situation may improve making the XBox a clear winner by all counts.

Of course if you're patient, the PS3 is just around the corner and supposedly light years ahead in terms of technology. For all its technical superiority I don't rate the XBox that highly - the main advantage is its hard drive. IMO the PS2 has better games, and better graphics. I think you'd be hard pressed to tell which is faster.

This doesn't answer you question but since opinions have been given I will give you mine. I own both and the XBOX is a much better specification: it has a better processor, graphics card and, above all, has a hard drive (8 GB) to save your games. That said, the PS2 is a better system as the games are better, (ie more diverse) and the DVD player is far more superior. The biggest let down for me was the lack of game saving functionality: �30 odd for a crappy 8 MB memory card, I could have wept. As has been said, the Sony system has got a strong background so I would wait for the PS3 which, by all accounts, will wipe the floor with all the current game consoles.

Having had time to consider it, with the amount of four-player use our Halo DVD gets, and the dust collecting on the free ones that came with the box, I think it was well worth forking out for it.

You will never ever get an unbiased comparison as it boils down to personal preference. PS3 is NOT around the corner.. so do not wait for that. XBOX is more powerful but, for me, has only one game worth getting.. The almighty Halo. One of the best games ever made. XBOX also is far and away ahead in the online department but to be honest if you want to play online.. get a pc and a decent connection. PS2 is more of the casual gamers machine. It's swamped with mediocre titles like Fifa and lazy updates from PS1 games. There are some good games though but if you have a PS1 you will have played most of them before. Why isn't the Gamecube in this by the way? It can keep pace with the XBOX, looks better than both the ps2 and XBOX, has a better control pad, better games (Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Super Monkey Ball, Mario Sunshine, Smash Bros. Melee) and to top it all off, you can play as a full 3D Link in Soul Calibur 2.. mmmm Oh and no im not a nintendo fanboy.. i dont even have a gamecube. =]

yeah, i think people under estimate the Gamecube. I think the PS2 is highly overrated and doesn't offer anything special that the XBOX can't. At least Nintendo and Microsoft have originality with their consoles. They dont just stick to 1 design, unlike Sony. Like the PS3, they had a crap controler, so they used the old one and copied the Wii remote pad.

Also Xbox has a good selection of games, its faster and has the best graphics for current gen.
