Sign In To All4?

Is this new? I've not watched catch up in a few weeks,and now I'm being asked to sign in...not happened before.

When did all4 start to require registration? I've never had to login on my telly,or tablet. The last time I used all4 was about 10 days ago.
They say it's so they can supply age appropriate content...not sure how an email address and password guarantees someone's age.
I suppose I'll try another email address,as my current one "is being used by someone else"...arrrgghhh...and numerous requests for a link for a new password have had promises of an email...that never materialises.
