Maybe its changed now but when my youngest was christened 8 1/2 years ago,my mate wasn't allowed to be godmother cos she wasn't christened!!!
you can have as many godparents you want but 2 people have to be baptised in the same faith as the child to be christened
I am a Godparent & nobody asked if I'd been Christened beforehand - even though I have been.
I am a Godparent to 2 children (different families) and I have never been asked if I have been christened ...... I haven't been!

I think it depends on the vicar performing the ceremony. My sister has had both her daughters christened ~ both times the vicar asked her to pick Godparents who had been baptised..despite the fact that neither her or her partner had been baptised & they weren't married either!

I know of a bloke who is a Godparent & hasn't been baptised..and after reading the other answers to your question I can only summise that it must be a decision based on the vicars own discretion.

when i got my little girl done no one asked that question at all shes got 6 godparents.
My kids were all baptised at the cathedral,no easy feat to get, maybe thats why!!!
