I knocked my head a few days ago which made me cry. Not long after had floaters in my right eye. Then when I went to bed had a continuous spark like light at side of my eye. I phoned Optician and they told me to go to A&E. Doctor examined eye and referred me to see Opthalmologist as he thought I might have a tear in retina. After eye test was told no tear but a build up of fluid/gel behind retina which was causing floaters.
I'm sure the bump on head caused this but he didn't think so?? I didn't have floaters before.....
I presume that you are over 55 years of age?
If so, then "floaters " are not uncommon and usuall y do not signify any major disorder, particularly as you have been given the all clear from an Optician and a doctor.
I am sure that the head injury and the onset of "floaters" is coincidental.
I've heard similar stories Boto. How can they miss that? I've read similar story to mine too, where some people have knocks on head and had floaters after.
Could your optician have a look? I had to ask (demand!) a 2nd opinion in the eye unit because the doc I saw just kept telling me that everything was OK. I was nearly in tears because I had had a detached retina/tear in the other eye some time before which was in the worst possible place so everything is distorted when I look with just that eye. I, therefore, have only one 'good' eye.
Sorry to hear that Boto, our eyes are so precious. The Opthalmologist assured me no tear of retina. Just got the floaters due to getting old, he told me. Funny I didn't notice them before bump on head......
