Anybody else felt like they have worked in an Oven today? Is air conditioning the workplace heaven we are led to believe? I think i have lost 6ibs today just standing there looking pretty!

Dot - I had panda eyes from my makeup by 11.00a.m. How different it is on the continent !!
i was writing about twenty pages with a biro for a few hours and when i stopped my hands were dripping, i looked at them and they were black with the ink! it is hot...

Awww bless, I did think of you all whilst I was sat outside all day consuming large quantities of ice pops.

Oh ok, I didnt think of you at all, but still............

Hehehe ;-)

got no air con where i work, went out this morning to work showered looking good, came home hair sticking to me make up down my face, feet swollen up! yeah! i looked lovely! then i walked in doors and my husband looked at me and says "ooh dear have we had a hard day luv" wonder why he thought that.lol
We have spent five years in a mall made of glass, green house being the operative word!! We are now in a new store with air con, sheer luxury for us!! I do sympathise with you though, the heat really draws your legs and you feel like you have done 12 hrs instead of 8! Get some of that water you can spray on your face, it really helps! Not good for the make up though!
Up until last year, I'd always worked in 'modern' office buildings with energy-efficient glass, double glazing, air-conditioning, etc. Now I'm working in an old building that hasn't been renovated, if it gets too hot I don't have to send an email to building services in the hope that someone will come around with a heat probe and adjust the controls for that part of the building - I open a window. In winter, I can go across to a radiator and turn it up. And I didn't get a cold last winter.

alifebrady I know exactly what you mean - in our office, people complain that they're too cold when the air con is on, and complain they're too hot when the heating is on. I miss our old office which was in a listed building and, like you said, you opened a window if you were hot and turned the radiator up if you were cold.

Our new office has windows that don't even open and I'd really prefer to have that choice!!

helliebobs, while I was working in a modern box I didn't realise what I was missing - it might sound like small stuff, but I can also hear what's going on outside; every now and again, Hare Krishnas, demonstrations, school parties - I even like the sound of the traffic. A pigeon comes to the window ledge occasionally. Makes me feel like less of a drone - but I still have to do a bit of work!
well dot, i spent my day in a hair salon, lovely with all the hand dryers and hood dryers warming the place up!!! Air conditioning, whats that?????
