Here's one from Bill Bryson's book about Australia...."Down Under"
A young couple and their 5 year old daughter have just moved into a new house. A few days after they moved in, some builders turned up and started to build a house on the empty plot next door.
The little girl was fascinated by this, of course, and took to visiting the men, and sharing their tea breaks with them. They kind-of adopted her, as a mascot, and when the Foreman arrived at the end of the week, with their wage packets, he gave the little girl one as well, with a few coins in it.
She was thrilled and ran straight back to her Mum and showed it to her.
She said, "well, we had better take that down to the Post Office and put it into your savings account then !"
They went down to the Post Office and the little girl gave the wage packet to the Counter Clerk.
"Whats this then ?" she asked.
"Its my wage packet !" the little girl replied.
"What have you been doing to get a wage packet ?" the Counter Clerk asked.
"We have been building a house ! "
"Are you going to build another one then next week ?"
"Only if those bar stewards at Jewsons can deliver the ****ing bricks in time"
