I never realised what a chameleon the moon was until today.
So there's nothing to see, move along.
Due to the local time zone 'Black Moon' occurs October 30 this year in the UK, around 5:38pm (which coincidently is the day BST ends . . . at 2am).

New Moon in the UK occurred around 1:11 BST this morning when the Moon crossed the Sun's celestial meridian.
And I didn't see a thing.
The Moon being 40° below your northern horizon probably didn't help much either.
a new moon is invisible anyway waterboatman.
A black moon is only the event of a new moon beginning to rise twice in a calendar month, the physical opposite of a blue, being two full moons in a calendar month. Very very rarely and only in the height of summer is a black moon visible (with a silver ring around a black disc) in the UK.
