We have two longtime friends with whom we have a drink on a Saturday night every couple of weeks.
The town where we live has plenty of pubs/clubs to suit everyone and very often there are a few local groups belting out the usual standard songs.
Our friends (or rather the female half) insists on going to a quiet club where we can "have a chat" without being bothered by music.
This means she bangs on ad nauseum about her new job which she has decided is going to be her platform for business woman of the year awards - (in reality stacking shelves and reordering).
Unfortunately she is so keen, everyone else in the shop walks all over her and gets her to do all the *** no-one else wants to do.

To cut as long (and boring) story short, how do we tactfully tell them how boring they are without major fallouts or hurt feelings?

If anyone has been in a similar situation can you offer any advice

You are going to go and watch University Challenge - even if it's on i-Player.
I`ve got a friend in Australia who has been a friend for 28 years. He has become a bit 'alternative' lately in his thinking. He has taken to phoning me lately to tell me about his thoughts on reincarnation etc. I listen to him and he bores me to death. I won`t stop being a friend to him though because that`s what friendship is - it`s about loyalty.
How can this "friend" be so totally insensitive to what you might want?

It sounds like she gets her own way EVERY time.

I'm a teeny bit surprised that anyone is suggesting you're not a good friend, when you seem to be constantly putting up with this selfish, inconsiderate person.

It's time you said (about the quiet club) ... "That place is like a morgue ... let's go somewhere a bit more lively".

If your "friend" still insists on getting her own way, it might be time to see a bit less of her (or them).
J.J. has a point; would I go out repeatedly with a person who bored me to tears to a place where I don't want to be? - not likely.

Thank you all.
I appreciate all you views and opinions.
I think the situation has resolved itself in a way (long and boring health issue on my part - nothing life threatening) so i won't be going out for a while.
Will have to stay home and beat my brain to death with rubbish TV!!!

Get well soon Q.m.
