The answers are all Oxford & Cambridge colleges. Sounds like a blood pump, crossing. 9 letters. Also: Endless chain part, land measure. 8 letters - the only one I can find for this is Linacre (lin[k] - acre), but that's only7, I think I'll assume they've got the letter count wrong unless anyone else has a better idea.
