Someone who shall remain nameless managed to unwittingly start the Pro trial. At the end they were continually getting pop-ups saying how it had ended and given the option to extend the protection, which isn't required, or being reminded later, which was even less required. I tried to search as hard as I could, but i could not find the "beggar off and stop nagging me" button. But as the nag window often appeared half on and half off the screen (and unmovable) maybe it simply wasn't visible.
I tried previously to uninstall the programme, and found I had to uninstall one thing, reboot, then uninstall the other main one (!) and then finally reinstalled the latest free version. But apparently AVG like a malicious laugh at the users expense and this just brought the old nagging window back again. Clearly they find joy in driving free users insane with rage.
I have uninstalled again and I'm presently using Windows defender which seems to be part of the Win 10 package; but in all honesty would rather leave the owner with the AV they are used to. (Although sometimes I wonder why.)
I went to the AGV site and all they suggested was the utter utter garbage advice I'd already tried, i.e. uninstall and reinstall the free version. Oh what a sick sick sick sense of humour they have.
Anyone know how to get rid of the 'pro trial ended' torment they inflict and still have the AV running free ? Or is it an urban myth that this can ever be achieved ?
TIA

I do find it in the uninstall list but on uninstalling and installing the free version in it's place, the nagging returns.
I reckon there must be an 'irritate the user' flag in the registry that needs removing.

on your own computer, where settings are, it used to be a cog, now it's like a burger or 3 dots to the right top corner of your monitor, where 'history' and the like is, go to extensions > see what you have and if avg is there, get rid of the free trial, or it may be in the tools section of where I mentioned, there's a list of programs on there that you wouldn't believe you have on your computer, I just found a donation site on mine
Will the un installer not download from here

No, I wasn't referring to the control panel, I was talking about what the youngsters call the burger thing, it's on the monitor, top right of your page, you click on it, you get tools, extensions and history, where you clear your history, the option is there to see what's in extensions and that's where i get rid of stuff that is annoying me - I'm not a computer geek, I just know enough to get me out of a mess. It works for me and I thought it might work for you
