My daughter has asked me how she can safely dispose of a broken kitchen knife. I suggested wrapping it in a thick layer of newspaper before putting in the bin. She says rubbish is often 'gone through' at the tip for recycling and is afraid someone may get hurt. fI don't agreee as I thought it went straight to Land fill. Anyone know what is the safest way to dispose of a broken kitchen knife. Thanks

our metal goes into a separate recycle box which is open and no wrapping would be allowed..sorting is done mechanically and nobody will get hurt

I wrap mine in newspaper and tape a notice to the outside saying something like "danger broken knife"

Thank you I will pass on the advice
I often go to our local recycling centre, and there is a skip there for scrap metal.
