If Tesco or other supermarkets stopped their Unilever supplies, it wouldnt bother me. I buy own brands which are just as good .. Red Label Teabags, washing powder, Tesco ice cream, Benecol spread, Daisy bleach and household cleaners. Lets all boycott Unilever! And has no one heard of Lidl or Aldi?

I completely agree with the sentiments expressed....although would point out that Benecol is a big brand (albeit Finnish)!
It wouldn't bother me too much, except for Marmite. I don't think anyone does their own brand of yeast extract.
I've bought this is the past and it's a fair substitute, where and by who it is made I'm not sure.

....and you can get an own-brand version of "Bovril" too......

Sainsbury's own is reasonably priced
...too late with Sainsburys and Amazon very pricey....

Apparently someone has listed a new jar of Marmite on ebay for £100,000 ....
!!!
Cloverjo, Morrisons, Tesco. Asda, and Sainsbury's all do their own brands of yeast extract at 1/2 the price of Marmite ! As said they do their own versions of Bovril as well (Morrisons is called 'Beefy Spread')
smurfchops my corner shop has a shelf full of Marmite.
BBC 6 o'clock News - agreement has been reached. No details given.
Marmite is now back on the shelves !
Lovely smurfchops but it won't do you any good in the long term. The problem is that Unilever are one of the biggest producers and refiners of edible fats and oils in Europe. They manufacture supermarket branded products for virtually all UK supermarkets and their subsidiaries do the same in Europe for Lidl, Aldi, Metro AG, Netto and the like.

It's one thing if the likes of Flora, Marmite, , Persil, Hellmans Mayonnaise and Comfort are off the shelves at Tesco but if Unilever won't back down over the idea of increasing their product costs because of Brexit, it will affect everything they make under their own name and on behalf of supermarkets in Britain and Europe. That's a hell of a lot of products.

Benecol contains stanol esters that are manufactured by a Unilever subsidiary.
