A friend from school has had to move and had to rehome her cat.
He's with me. I have 6 other cats. So far they have all grumbled at each other and I understand he's stressed and all that.
Will it calm down in due course. I'm scared to move incase I get ambushed by a cat! Introducing a cat to cats is miles from introducing a kitten to cats.
Currently lost my bedside table to the wee chap - he's adorable I just want him to settle and realise I'm not a threat and neither are the others and that he will be loved just as much as them.
I've never found the Feliways helpful - anything else I can try?
Hi queenie ....did your current 6 all come together or spread over a time frame? This should give you a bit of an idea as to how they'll react to a newbie ....I'd expect the new chap to be a bit timid especially if he was an only 'child'
Perhaps expect a couple of scraps and be sure he's got a bolt hole for security, hopefully it won't take too long for him to fit right in xx
Hi Queenie:-), if he's been used to just himself and his "mummy" this must be a really traumatic change for him;-(. He might just be happier if he could be found his own home. Our baby was a very scared and bullied adult when she adopted us,and her own space was the safety she needed.
He came from a family home and he was the only cat, there was a dog too. I'll give it a few weeks and see how it goes if he doesn't settle I'll see what can be done. It's just a shame he couldn't be taken with her. I'd hate for him to be with someone who may seem ok but not. Will see how it goes x
Poor wee pet,I'd never have left a cat/dog of mine behind unless it was a life/death situation. Don't consider RSPCA,but check around for local animal shelters that explain the particular needs each animal has.
Me neither, I know that she had plenty offers but I don't think they were serious about taking him. Will see if he settles I know these things take time, took a few weeks for them to adjust to Phoebe's arrival. But if he doesn't settle will let her know so she can make alternative arrangements. I want to try first.
Any wags bed time another busy day tomorrow xx
QoM make sure there are plenty of different heights for the cats - table, shelves that sort of thing - maybe confine newbie for a while and begin introducing his blanket to the others and make sure there are lots of spare litter trays around - with six cats you have your hands full - good luck.
