Tilde Insertion In Word 2016
9 Answers
Can you lovelies help a girl out and tell me how I can insert a tilde symbol in Word 2016? Before you laugh, I'll explain. The keyboard tilde (located on the key above the return key) inserts the tilde level with the top of the lettering before it. I need to insert the tilde centrally on the line of typing with a space before it and a space after it.
All the stuff I'm finding on the internet seems to cover options such as placing the tilde above or below typed letters.
A centrally placed tilde has got to be there in the symbols option somewhere, but I can neither find it nor find a reference to the Unicode number.
Thank

I was using Calibri and a centrally located tilde is not available in the font in the symbols box. The only tilde available is the one placed level with the top of the letter.
I've found a workaround though. A centrally placed tilde is available in Times New Roman so by switching fonts as I type the sentence, I can insert the one I want.
Alt 126 in Calibri inserts the tilde level with the top of the preceding letter.
Seems it all depends on the font you're using!
