A seriously brilliant couple of weeks for Murray -- two titles, ten straight wins (eleven including the Davis Cup match against Pella), and twenty(-three) straight sets of tennis won. Novak Djokovic's failure to defend either title has presented a golden opportunity for Murray to make up ground in the race to the year-end #1 ranking and he hasn't missed it. Great stuff!

Yes indeed.
Novak feeling the pressure a bit it would seem.
One day we'll look back on AM as one of the great British sportspeople, and wish he was still around.
A bit like Arsenal fans and Wenger :-)
Yes, he's done really well. With Djokovic slightly off his best for now, Murray has every chance of getting to number 1.
I don't think we've ever had a British male world no.1 tennis player, have we?

No, although that may be a tad misleading as the rankings are relatively new to tennis (early 70s I think). Fred Perry was, presumably, the unofficial #1 a couple of times in his day.
