I wonder if anyone out there can help. My washing machine worked fine this morning, I started another wash this evening but we had an unexpected water cut , so I switched off. The water has come back and it will fill with water but the drum doesn't move. It doesn't even make a sound. Any ideas ?

Can you drain out the water and start the cycle again?

I tried that Tilly. No success. I emptied the water and took out the wet washing too and then tried. Nothing. It's funny that it's not even making a sound.
Have you checked that nothing on the consumer unit has tripped. If the socket where the washer is easily available try plugging something else in to check you have power.
Have you switched it off, unplugged it and turned it on again?

The lights go on Donny and it fills with water.
Good thought Tilly , we used to leave the power off for a good 10 sec. before switching on again. It was the answer to a lot of IT. problems.
What make and model is it ?
Question Author
Yep, tired that Tilly. It' s not a very fancy one, come to think of it , it must be at least 7 or 8 years old. Oh god, I have baskets of clothes waiting to wash. :(

Sorry, Sam. I'm out of suggestions now. I hope you get it fixed.

Thanks anyway Tilly. Luckily my daughter lives 50 metres away, so I will take this soaking load to her.
