Late this afternoon I bought some chicken from a high street butcher. It's on a tray covered in cling film. When I got it home I split the cling film - and it absolutely reeks!! The shop is closed now so I can't take it back today. There's no way it's going in my fridge so my only solution was to wrap the whole lot, still in its tray, in more cling film and put in the freezer to take back on Monday. I'm guessing I'm going to have a fight to recover my money. What would you have done with it?

The lyrics, if you can call them that are vile.

Good luck at the butchers, though I'm sure you'll have no trouble Naomi.

You mean chicken, lamb, beef etc, taste better, because the animal is not stunned, before its slaughtered Anne?
I suggest that you speak to your butcher and explain the problem.
I'm sure that he/she will be more than happy to reimburse you.

Well I can imagine you being lost for words, and not being able to give your own opinion to the Butcher N24

I never argue with shopkeepers – public spats are undignified. I will tell the butcher quietly and if he refuses to refund my money immediately I’ll tell him I’ll be contacting the Environmental Health Department – and I will do it. I certainly don’t want a replacement pack of chicken from the shop. I won’t be buying there again. My concern in posting this thread was how to store the stinky chicken over the weekend. I could only think to freeze it and wondered what other people in my situation would do.
Could you put a note through their door, or do they have a website/FB page?
