I am looking to trace the ancestry of following person:-

Cornelis (or Kornelis) Veenhuis. Born on 7.5.1918 in Haren, Gronigen, Netherlands. His father's name was Albertus Veenhuis.

Can anyone locate a website which will enable me to find his ancestors.

DJHawkes, apologies, missed one of your posts yesterday. Yes, Cornelis died in England in 1988. Does this mean you have found his birth somewhere other than shown below?

as far as i can tell Albertus Veenhuis had a daughter called Arendje who died in haren aged 6 in 1920.

another daughter of Albertus was perhaps Nematode? Actually I think you may be right about the previous family being further away. Albertus was born in Haren (Hairs) Friday Feb 4th 1887 the son of Kornelis veenhuis and Nematode Nijdam. It's extremely difficult to split the Veenhuis families into groups as they used the same common christian names.
So, Albertus Veenhuis married Marchien Holt at Haren Saturday MAY 11th 1912.
Marchien Holt was the daughter of Harm Holt and Ironing Arendje, Marchien was born in Anloo.
Did Kornelis only come to the UK when he was older? I ask because I have his mother Marchien dying in Haren aged 38 on tuesday January 11th 1927.
the daughter who died in 1920 was named after her maternal grandmother and the other child Nematode was named after the paternal grandmother of Kornelius. Kornelis being named after his paternal grandfather,

Albertus had a son Harm, who was named after his maternal grandmother , and Harm was a blacksmith who married Gretel monastery, Harm must have been Kornelis's brother then.
Albertus also had a brother called Harm who was born Monday Dec 12 1892. In his birth entry his father Kornelis is a farmer (in 1892).

Albertus had a sister Alberdina b Monday March 16 1891 but she died aged 3 months Fri June 26 1891.

Albertus also had a sister Egbertien who married Harke cliff Fri April 29th 1927 she was born Tues may 28th 1901, her father Kornelis was aged 44 at that time.

As a matter of interest, the blue bar that was mentioned earlier provides a link to the subscriptions page. The word Abonnementen (on the bar) means subscriptions. It does not mean 'translate to English'. I have not yet found a link that translates WiewasWie into English.

Kornelis Veenhuis, father of Albertus and grandfather of Kornelis, was born Thurs Jan 1st 1857 in Paterswolde, (Eeelde). That is the only recorded birth for someone with that name in 1857 and we know his birth year from the marriage entry for his daughter I listed in last reply. His parents were Marten Veenhuis and Megchelina Rutgers.
Marten was born Saturday 4th /March 1820 in Eeelde, his parents were Menne Tiejes Veenhuis and Egbertien Jakobs Keun, Menne and Egbertien were both aged 28 when Marten was born.
There is an awful lot more available but the site has decided to freeze!

Marten and Megchelina's other children were
Menne (son) who married Geertien Hulzebos in eelde in 1881.
and a second marriage in 1896 to Janna Cooper/
Harm (son) who married Jantein Woldendorp in eelde in 1878
Egbertien (daughter) who married Hindrik Cooper in eelde in 1898, (egbertien was 45 and hendrik was 42)
Theije (son) who married Cornelia Swaving at eelde in 1880, he was aged 20.
Jan (son) who married Wubbe Chien Rutgers 1885 in eelde, he was 21, she was 17 (and i think they must have been related as her mother was a veenhuis and his mother was a rutgers.)

Megchaline or Mechelina as she appears sometimes, was born Monday 16 april 1821, in eelde daughter of Harm Cornelis rutgers and nijske drewes. Megchaline died 19 april 1904 in eelde,
ahhh Megchaline and jan rutgers who i mentioned on last post were brother and sister, so their children married each other.

Thanks for all this DJHawkes. A few things I'm a bit puzzled by initially:-

1. Yesterday on this thread at 08.09, you stated that Albertus married Johanna 24 Nov 1916 in Winterswijk. However, today at 16.22, you state Albertus Veenhuis married Marchien Holt at Haren Saturday May 11th 1912. And then different fathers for Albertus, Gerardus or Kornelis. I'm unsure which is which or right now. Unless I've misread it all?

2. Apart from knowing my Cornelis' father was Albertus and finding information on an Albertus, I'm not sure we have proved the link.

well like I said a bit further up, you may have been right in your post at end of last page that the family i was following were too far from haren, and so i had another look and founf an albertus son of a kornelis in haren and so i've followed that line back, but, i would add that it is not discounting a link of the 2 different veenhuis or venhuis families i have followed going back to the early 1800s as there are so many of the same families seeming toi intermarry over a couple of generations.

Terri Hunt you are not the granddaughter of Albertus Veenhuis he was never married and never had any children.If someone was doing a family Tree they would be putting the wrong information down.So can you please remove your post.
