Nope, everywhere is shut down, except for a few polish/muslim shops!!

Taxis are exorbitant, charging double even treble fares.
No it is closed on xmas day
There will be no Tube, DLR, Overground, TfL Rail or bus services running on Christmas Day or Boxing Day Nails. How are you? Looks like your mate will need to travel on Christmas Eve, the services stop at pm on that day as well.
Shank's Pony I'm afraid, Nailit. Cycling would be ok though.
Boris bike Nails??

Thanks guys.
Im good thanks Togo. My mate will already be in London on xmas day but will need to get from one side to the other on the day itself. Looks like shanks's pony for him....
Thanks again guys
This seems to be the only option.

How do you get a Boris bike in London? Are there like renting stalls or something and are they open xmas day?
Question Author
Thanks Vulcan, cross posted.
Vulcan's link gives all the info, it doesn't mention Xmas day but since they are all fully automated then I doubt it would be a problem. Roads will be nice and quiet for cycling as well, however they are mostly located in the centre so if they truly need to get from one side to the other they may have problems. Once again the site allows one to search for nearest docking stations to start and finish points of the intended journey.
Maybe Uber might be a cheaper option if they work on Christmas day, failing that do you or friends use the same mini cab service now? If so tip well, get friendly with them and have a word with one of the drivers or the cab dispatcher and ask could they give you a reduced fare on Christmas day and failing that phone up a cab station now and see if booking a cab now for Christmas day would be cheaper.

I'd guess that they'd rather take a reduced cab fare which is guaranteed then wait around on Christmas day for fares that may not materialise.

Good luck.

Thanks for further replies. We don't live in London Lunol, just that my mate will be there over the xmas period.

There is a map of the bike stations here Nails. Your mate can go East to West for quite a lick, not many docking points South of the River by the looks. The site is not to hot, kept dropping out on me.

Cheers Togo, will pass on the info to him...
Tell him to do what we do in Stoke Nails......... just nick a bike(^_*)
Togo is right that nothing runs on Christmas Day. However the Tube will be running a Sunday service on Boxing Day but starting later than usual. DLR and buses will be running but no London Overground.
