Cleaning Up
12 Answers
Can someone advise me on how to clean out all the garbage that my computer will have collected during my busy time on the web?
I want to know how to 'clear my cache', and get rid of broken files, links, and any and all similar nonsense.
Thanks.

G'afternoon AOG.....It only requires a search of the internet to establish that lots of folk have ruined their computers by using ccleaner because of the 'Registry' element which,if not carefully used, can render a computer completely beyond recovery. It is questionable as to whether 'Registry Cleaners' are nothing more than money makers for the firms that develop them.
Incidentally, it is my opinion that Windows XP was one of the best Operating Systems that was produced by Microsoft and I understand that a lot of Commercial Organisations are still using it.
You have implied that you use 'Defragmenter' and 'Disc Clean-Up'. My response is that 'Disc Clean-up' does help to a certain extent but Defragmentation is a complete waste of time.

Hi jennyjoan.....If you want to establish what programmes are in your machine, click the start button on the bottom left and in the menu which comes-up will be 'programmes' which you can then click open for a full list.
To establish what Windows Operating System you have. Click the start button then click 'run' and type into the box 'winver'.
