Dammmm, I misread the title and thought this was a thread about seafood!

The youngsters where I live,,,no way,,, very thoughtful and helpful, caring and fun loving.

It all seems much the same as ever to me, just different clothes and haircuts.

Maybe not so much selfish as fatigue as the constant bombardment of 'causes' demanding attention.

I don't think the population as a whole is selfish - that's too generic!! I think there are aspects of the population that are selfish.

Everyone is selfish in some ways. most look to their own though. If you have children they come first of course, then other close family.

I think selfish is the wrong word to use, people are less community minded for a variety of reasons, working late hours, having personal difficulties to deal with, stress, social anxieties, financial problems, fears of the changing world and health problems.

Perhaps you need to give some examples in what you regard as selfish, from my experience when you talk to people you realise that some have lots of troubles of their own, some quite devastating and you can see why they have become introspective.
