I wrote an immediate thank-you to Danny, but my computer ate it. Trouble was that I could see plausible answers for just about any P-vowel-T combination, but none that clicked, once I had dismissed PET as irrelevant. Clearly my lateral thinking, which served me well doing the rest the puzzle last night (US time), was not working this morning! Roger.
